As South Florida's housing costs outpace wage growth faster than nearly any other metro area in the country, our labor leaders are holding developers accountable to working families' needs—starting with affordable housing for the people who serve as the economic engine of the region.

Heat Safety & Workplace Conditions

In South Florida, where heat indices regularly exceed 100°F, we’re fighting for Heat Illness Prevention Plans (HIPPs) on every major job site. Despite political opposition, we continue to push for heat safety ordinances throughout the region and beyond—because working without water, rest, or shade in such conditions isn’t just unsafe, it’s inhumane.

Domestic Worker Protections

With over 60,000 domestic workers excluded from basic labor laws, we’re answering the urgent call for a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights to close legal gaps and establish enforceable workplace protections.

As South Florida prepares to welcome the world for FIFA 2026, we are fighting to ensure the tournament's economic legacy is one of equity, dignity, and opportunity for local workers. Our leaders are committed to securing enforceable labor standards ahead of the event, aiming to prevent a pattern of exploitation and ensure that the influx of temporary jobs benefits the local workforce.

Anti-Union Legislation Resistance

As anti-union laws like SB 256 threaten to decertify public sector unions, we’re building collective power to protect our teachers, healthcare workers, sanitation staff, transit operators, public safety personnel, municipal employees, and other frontline public service workers whose rights are under attack.
