About South Florida AFL-CIO

We are more than a labor council—we are a movement of solidarity, resilience, and justice.

The South Florida AFL-CIO unites over 250,000 working people from 60 member unions across Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. As one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils under the AFL-CIO, we are a democratically elected body representing the interests of working families. We fight every day to advance economic equity, protect labor rights, and hold political power accountable.

Together, with our union affiliates and community allies, we mobilize to win good jobs, fair wages, and dignity for all—regardless of race, gender, immigration status, or background.

From standing up to anti-worker legislation to demanding labor protections at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and leading campaigns for climate and housing justice, we are building a stronger, more inclusive South Florida for all.
