Union Leaders, Community Orgs and Elected Officials at Labor Day Press Event

Location: United Teachers of Dade, 5553 NW 36th Street, Miami Springs, FL 33166.

On Thursday, September 3 at 10 am, South Florida labor leaders, elected officials and community orgs will hold a press briefing ahead of the Labor Day weekend and the county’s first budget hearing later that afternoon to address local, state and federal policies that are harming working families across the region.

Among the issues of concern to be discussed:

  • Miami Dade County proposed cuts to bus transit lines that will affect more than four million riders per year.
  • Amendment 3 Property Tax ballot initiative
  • Affordability crisis, inflation, ICE raids, TPS status and more

  • May Day Documentary Screening + Q&A + March  |  Friday, May 1, 2026
    On International Workers' Day, the South Florida AFL-CIO joined forces with more than a dozen partner organizations to shine a light on the abuses faced by nursery workers in Florida and build support for dignity, safety, and justice on the job. The event included a free screening of Without Shade, Without Rest, a new documentary by Six Eye Films about the worker-led campaigns of WeCount! and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers for heat protections in Florida. After the film, a Q&A, lunch, rally, and march were held. Moderated by South Florida creator and influencer Cesar Flores
  • Organizing Revival 1 - Day Bootcamp  |  Thursday, April 30 & Friday, May 1, 2026
