Workers' Memorial Day

Port of Miami, Behind Seaman's Cafe, across from Terminal F
1180 North Cruise Blvd., Miami, FL 33132

Workers' Memorial Day is observed every year on April 28 to honor workers killed, injured, or made ill on the job, and to renew our fight for stronger protections in every workplace. As the labor movement says: mourn for the dead, fight for the living. Join us at PortMiami as we gather in remembrance and recommit ourselves to safe jobs for all. Jimmy Morales, Chief Operating Officer for Miami-Dade County, will be speaking.

May Day Documentary Screening + Q&A + March

Moderator: South Florida creator and influencer Cesar Flores

This May 1, International Workers' Day, the South Florida AFL-CIO will join forces with more than a dozen partner organizations to shine a light on the abuses faced by nursery workers in Florida and build support for dignity, safety, and justice on the job. Join us at Coral Gables Art Cinema for a free screening of Without Shade, Without Rest, a new documentary by Six Eye Films about the worker-led campaigns of WeCount! and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers for heat protections in Florida. After the film, we will hold a brief Q&A with representatives from the South Florida AFL-CIO, WeCount!, Beyond the Bars, and Six Eye Films. Lunch and transportation to the nearby rally and march will be provided for everyone who registers.

Organizing Revival 1-Day Bootcamp

On Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, 500 organizers and community members will gather in Florida for a training designed to meet this moment — moving from scattered mobilization to disciplined, collective nonviolent targeted action; building the unity, skill, and courage to act in coordinated and powerful ways; and preparing to confront authoritarianism, challenge inequality, and grow the organized people power needed to win lasting change.
