Labor Coalition Calls on FIFA to Address Worker and Community Concerns

The South Florida AFL-CIO held a press conference on April 14, 2026, to announce the release of a formal demand letter addressed to the FIFA Miami-Dade Host Committee, outlining key labor and community concerns tied to upcoming World Cup-related activities in the region.

The press conference was supported by a broad coalition of labor unions and community organizations, including the South Florida AFL-CIO, IBEW Local 349, South Florida Building and Construction Trades Council, SEIU Florida, IATSE Local 500, UNITE HERE Local 355, American Income Life, WeCount, Catalyst Miami, Beyond the Bars, Florida Immigrant Coalition, and the Community Justice Project.
